Go for a holiday! |

If you would like to experience that the Czech Republic is more than
"Prague & Pick-Pockets", but a beautiful country with a
kind population, it is a good idea to visit the countryside. It is a
friendly country with a changing nature, and all of it is marked with
coloured hiking routes covered by maps suited for as well hikers,
bikers as car drivers. Maps are extremely cheap to buy, so there is
no reason not to cover your area of interest.
Meanwhile, do not give up Prague, as it is a capital you will never
finish - but that is common knowledge I suppose.
You may get a brief overview of the country at the Czech
Tourist Authority.
Here you may see how to arrange your stay by the Internet.
My advice is to read guidebooks at home - and leave them there!
Instead buy one on the spot, which ensures they are updated, and
things do change rapidly in the republic these days. As always there
is an exception:Lonely
Planet Czech guide is the best all-round guide to the
country. Use Bookfinder
to get the best price.
Other books of interest I mention in the relevant context.
You may find a lot of tourist information at CZLIST's travel guide, a general portal.
You may now rent the best holiday cottage of Bohemia directly by the owner
The image is from 2011
Inexpensive to you, just CZK10.000/EUR 300 per week and no hidden
extras like local taxes, paying extra for firewood, gas and so on.
The cottage is situated in Vrbice, close to Rychnov and Kostelec nad
Orlici as you may see at this overview
map
We have lived there several times and suggest you also enjoy some more pictures of the cottage and its interior.
The house is ownde by the Lorenc family and you may contact the daughter in the family, Simona Bordes, to know if the cottage is vacant for the period you want accommodation. Yuo may write in English, French, German or Czech.
We have nothing to do with the rental of the cottage, but you are
welcome to contact us if you have problems getting in touch with mr.
Lorenc or if you want to learn more about the interior and
surroundings of the cottage.
Our most recent visit was August 2011.

Do you know a site missing? Do send me the link and bring it to knowledge of more people.
The Czech Republic is a premium choice for skiing. There are a lot of places to select among, all with good pistes whether you prefer downhill, slalom, cross country or snowboard. Even driving a snow scooter is possible. Only reservation: Are you super skier for whom only very black pistes are an option do continue eastwards to the High Tatras in Slovakia, where a suitable place to accommodate is Tatranska Lomnica.
You get an overview over the Czech - and Slovak - mountain and skiing areas at czech-mountains.
Far the biggest skiing resort is Krkonose
and it is here I recommend foreign tourists to go when I am asked,
and no one has until now given me negative feedback on that advises.
It is easy to go there if you buy a complete package at a travel
agency, but you may as well arrange the trip yourself. It is possible
to rent all the necessary equipment on the spot.
The centres in Krkonose is Harrachov
and Spindleruv Mlyn, and do have a
closer look at Pavel Hilbert of whom I just have
heard positive or Agentura Klic, which offers
accommodation in the area.
All the year you can get information on the snow situation and the site also has links to web cams from the various winter sports resorts.
Also check HolidayInfo, they have a lot of useful information.
I have not rented a car in the Czech Republic, so any feedback is very welcome!
Or rent a car plus driver at either
ChauffeurCZ
or
Auto Kopriva,
which sounds small and sympathetic
